Great Britain!

Howdy!

I hope you're all enjoying the Olympics. I would blog about something else but, being a Brit, the Olympics has consumed my waking hours since it began!

I have been exceptionally lucky recently and I managed to get tickets to some of the events - which I've been snapping photographs of all this week.

I actually tweeted one of these photos the other night and General Electric has been tweeting me ever since, which I think is great! I love it when brands engage their audience.

This next video is a really bad joke done right:

I thought it was amazing and as someone says in the comments, it just shows that physics does have a sense of humour. My physics classes at school were funny though. Like when my teacher used to write "P or N" on the whiteboard ... *titters* good old Mr. Wright!


This last video I'm posting is just something I came across tis afternoon. Last week I mentioned that there were some great films coming out this year and today, this was brought to my attention:

Now, I'm a sucker for kids films anyway and can't wait for the likes of Monsters Inc 2 and Finding Nemo 2, but the animation and stylings of this film is what attracted me to it. I'm really looking forward to the release!

The Olympics Begin!

Hello there and happy Friday everyone!


Today is a momentous occasion - it's the day my city hosts the Olympics! I know that people must be sick of seeing posts about it by now but I'm extremely excited. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity! I, myself, am attending two different games and I cannot wait to don my Team GB t-shirt and cheer everyone on. I hope you enjoy it as much as I will :)


It's very hot here in the UK at the moment though (I know, right?!). In fact it was so hot last night I couldn't sleep, so I set about using Illustrator to create this little guy: I call him Noah and that's his dog, Whale.

He's completely digitally drawn and I just wanted to share him with the world :) 
Fun Fact: Before I realised my dream of becoming an advertising copywriter, I wanted to be a cartoonist but I didn't think I'd make the cut! Let's face it, I'm no Akira Toriyama ;)


Anyway, I have a few vids to share with you as well today and so I shall start with this one:

*sniggers* you all saw that, right?? :P so that's where Spiderman comes from! Well, Batman has the Bat Cave ... I suppose it's quite similar!


This next video is awesome. I had a go once and just made plinky plonky noises - these girls show you how it's meant to be done!

How cool is that?! What a great job. "Oh, what do you do?" "Ah, I play the giant piano and FAO Schwarz." Amazing.


The last video I'm going to post is something that I can't wait for. Have you ever read the book The Life of Pi? If you haven't, maybe check it out because it really is a fantastic book - one of the best I've read. If movies are more your thing though, you're in luck, as they're now releasing it onto the big screen. This is the trailer.

Excellent stuff. This year has been great for films, I'm impressed, though I'm sure the film everyone is talking about at the moment is The Dark Knight Rises - am I right? :P
It was a pretty amazing film though!


That's enough rambling from me for today anyway. Whatever you're up to tonight, whether you're watching the Opening Ceremonies or not, have a good one! I know I will :) (it's take away night in our house so bring on the Domino's Pizza!)

Gambling Problem?

Evening all,

Today has been brilliant.
Not only did I find some great videos on the internet we got some fund raising on the go too :)
It turns out we (us advertising kids) have to pay our way to the New Blood show in London for our degree stuff later this year in which we have to raise over £1100!
I don't remember who came up with our first idea or how it came about but it turned into one of the most interesting afternoons I've ever had. Our idea?

To buy as many scratch cards as we could.

£45 later and we had our first set of tickets, winning £37 back we decided to carry on buying more. Unfortunately by the end of the afternoon we only had £1 left :(
Weirdly it turned out we had 6 numbers written on our board (how much we had won each time) and that's the same amount of numbers you need for the National Lottery. So keep your eyes peeled for Saturdays Blog as we may turn out to be winners from our final £1! lol

I also really needed to include the videos below. After coming across them on the internet I couldn't do a post and NOT include them.
The first one is called 'A brief history of pretty much everything' and someone put a lot of effort into animating it; I think it's pretty cool.

The second one is called 'Hello World' and it amazed me a little bit :) enjoy.

Cool huh?
Well that's me for now, I'd better go think of some awesome money raising ideas so we can get this show on the road :)
