Great Britain!

Howdy!

I hope you're all enjoying the Olympics. I would blog about something else but, being a Brit, the Olympics has consumed my waking hours since it began!

I have been exceptionally lucky recently and I managed to get tickets to some of the events - which I've been snapping photographs of all this week.

I actually tweeted one of these photos the other night and General Electric has been tweeting me ever since, which I think is great! I love it when brands engage their audience.

This next video is a really bad joke done right:

I thought it was amazing and as someone says in the comments, it just shows that physics does have a sense of humour. My physics classes at school were funny though. Like when my teacher used to write "P or N" on the whiteboard ... *titters* good old Mr. Wright!


This last video I'm posting is just something I came across tis afternoon. Last week I mentioned that there were some great films coming out this year and today, this was brought to my attention:

Now, I'm a sucker for kids films anyway and can't wait for the likes of Monsters Inc 2 and Finding Nemo 2, but the animation and stylings of this film is what attracted me to it. I'm really looking forward to the release!

Big Bad Wolf

Hello there,

It's been a great beginning to the week here in the UK (besides the weather) and I hope it's been just as good where you are! I've found some great vids this week so I'm going to get straight to it.


Video number one is seriously impressive:

Wow. That is some talent. I have no idea how long it must have taken in real time and I really hope it isn't fake like some people are suggesting. It's a great ad demonstrating the control of the pen but it's interesting too which makes it a success to me :)


Video number two is just too damn cute and has been passed around a little this week:

Haha! Genius. I think this is a great idea and I'm a little disappointed that people are crying outrage over it because they say it's animal cruelty. It's just a cute little dog wearing a cardboard tank for a bit - I don't see why you'd slam the owner for this. It's funny :)

My final vid of the week is amazing.

It's crazy and nonsensical and brilliant (I think). I certainly wasn't expecting it and I thought it was hilarious and so it's a winner for me and I think more people should see it :D

Augmented Reality

Hello there!


I just had to blog this.
It's rather exciting for me and I wanted to share it with the world :)

Since dreaming up an idea for a Delta Airlines brief I have been thinking of ways to bring it to life. My idea was to make the Statue of Liberty appear in Manchester city centre in all its green glory using Augmented Reality as the media. Whilst at university I did manage to create a 'version' of this and it was all very exciting!
My first version worked by using my computers webcam to display a model of the Statue of Liberty which was pretty cool but was sadly limited to my Mac and that wasn't a true reflection of the idea.

Since then I've been hell-bent on trying to make the AR portable (like on an iPhone etc) so it's closer to the real idea and FINALLY I managed it.

Below is a screenshot from my iPod touch showing that at long last I can make the Statue of Liberty appear wherever I want! Not only that but I can play with the model - make it bigger and smaller or rotate it or zoom in on the details and I'm extremely happy with the result! It took a lot of hours but I did it and just had to share it with you! (The AR code in the picture is on my computer screen but I can print it off and place anywhere.)

A Face Sandwich

Hello there and welcome to my blog!


This week has been all about work and not only have I finished reading Hey Whipple, Squeeze This and Ogilvy on Advertising but I've also changed my portfolio ... AGAIN! Just a tidy up this time so not too drastic a change. Well, today I just couldn't decide what videos to include so I'm going to post FIVE because they are all very good for their own reasons :)

This first video is one that has been passed around quite a lot this week and I couldn't resist posting it as it is rather amazing:

Haha! This just reminds me of my school days and all the crazy stuff that we did; I think everyone can relate to this video ... and it's just plain funny! :D

Wow. Now I'm not a massive Tron fan, in fact, I haven't even seen the new film but I do think that that bike is awesome and I definitely want a go! What a great idea and it must have taken them ages but the end result looks amazing so hats off to them :) well done Parker Brothers.

This next vid I had to include because A: I play the electric guitar and have done for quite some time and B: I love this song, I think it's brilliant so this just totally puts me to shame:

Great vid :) Metallica are awesome and so, in their own way, are those little guys.

It's simple but clever and that's what we like to see! New ways to use technology no matter how simple they are are always good :)
