A very long ad

So, I was sitting on Twitter, as you do, flicking through people's tweets when an idea for Andrex toilet paper struck me.

Here it is:

If it's a bit small on your screen then allow me to explain.
Andrex toilet paper has always championed how long their toilet paper is and so I've used the Twitter profile pictures to create the illusion of a really long roll. It could be as long as the marketing team want it to be. It's a simple idea that doesn't take much effort to do but it demonstrates a product benefit.

I just wondered what you thought of this idea - any feedback would be gratefully received!

Thanks,
Robyn x

London Town

Hello!

I know, I know, I haven't posted in a while. But I've been massively busy moving to London and attending book crits and trying to get placements and/or a job! It's been a maddeningly exciting time and a very tiring one at that!

I've also been taking part in some competitions that have popped up recently and I'm very proud to announce that I've won two of them! :D

The first was a Pantone competition held on Twitter by the awesome Leo Burnett agency. The objective was simple, post a picture of what Pantone you were wearing (with the hashtag #pantonequeen) and you could win a Pantone Queen! Below is my entry and Leo Burnett's blog:

The second competition was run by an excellent agency by the name of Kitcatt Nohr Digitas as part of the Cannt festival. This time, you had a week to hunt lions in London. You had to find one, take a picture and post it to Twitter (with the hashtag #canntlionhunt) and the person with the most at the end of the week won an iPad. So I had a great week sauntering around London, acquainting myself with the area, snapping pictures of lions and I won :) hurray!

Here is a snippet from Campaign magazine and the tweet that made my day:

So, as you can see, I've been rather busy lately but I'm still here, never fear!

I feel terrible for neglecting my blog but I'm really keen to get into this crazy world of advertising and so it's taking up quite a lot of my time. But, you know, when you see stuff like this ...

... it can only spur you on more! I'm chasing after my dream, I wish you the best of luck with yours!

(Hopefully) I'll post again soon! Thanks for reading :)

Good News

Hello there and welcome to my blog.

Good news! I have a new website - robynkendal.co.uk which means you don't have to come all the way here to view my work anymore. It's all on that website, so please feel free to have a look and any feedback you have would be much appreciated - I'm always trying to improve.

But even though I have a new website, I'll still be posting awesome things on here. Like this for example:

How amazing and fun does that look?! I seriously want a go. I'd probably be terrified at the top but I bet it feels great to free-fall that far.

This also looks like a fun thing to do:

The film itself I think is beautifully shot and it's great to watch. I just wish I had to nerve to try something like that - perhaps one day I will. Then I'll be uploading a video of me trying it ;)

This last video is my favourite of the week though:

I know lots of people have done light drawings before but I really like this one - the way the camera changes angles - I just think it's really well done.

Well, that's it from me today but before I go, you should probably check out these guys: UKCreativeCommunity they also have some really interesting stuff on their blog :)

Thanks for reading, I'll post again soon!

Music Made Of Glass

Hello there!

I hope the weather has been as amazing for you as it has for me; it's about time England got their summer :) it's nice to be able to sit outside for a change!
So, what have you been up to?

I've just finished my second ever advertising placement at Leith Agency and it was great :) such a good experience and hopefully I'm moving very quickly onto another gig down in London real soon!

I have just changed my Portfolio and CV on the pages up there too ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ so feel free to take a look and tell me what you think :)

Anyway, onto the vids! I recently watched an episode of Rude Tube and there were three videos on there that stood out to me and so they've been posted below, I've left the best til last. Enjoy!

This first one I thought was amazing. The guy in it is known as 'Flag Man' and you'll see why! He holds 2 world records and apparently is a fan of Michael Jackson ...

This next video just made me laugh ...

Haha! That is one of the weirdest talents to have but I think he's pretty good at it :P he could do SFX for movies perhaps? So it could be useful somewhere!

This last vid is definitely my favourite especially when it gets going in the middle, it just gets a little insane ...

Wow. I really wish I had a talent like that! How does he remember where each of the glasses are :/ he has an album too which I'm going to check out - I bet it's just as cool as this! I may slightly have to get some from iTunes :)

Well, thanks for reading and I'll be sure to post again soon. Enjoy your week, I hope you have lots of cool things planned (unlike me *grumbles* looking after little sister *grumbles*)
Catch you later, cya x

Will you marry me?

Hello everyone! It's been a while.

Since my last post I've finished my course, graduated, did my degree show, did a placement, visited agencies, been to New Blood in London and much much more :) but still, apologies for the silence! It's official that summer has begun though so hopefully I'll be able to blog a bit more.

Just to make you all aware I have changed my blog a little and added my portfolio, CV and some others bits to pages which can be found above ^ ^ ^ so you can have a nosey at my work without even leaving the site! Which is much handier for everyone ;)

Over the last few weeks there have been a few videos that have stood out to me, some of which are pretty cool, check them out below --->

The first video is something I found totally weird but also totally cool which is this:

Wow. It must have hurt and when new technology comes out he'll most likely be kicking himself but it is still quite awesome. Although, to be honest, you could probably just change the animation over and over to make it even cooler so I thumbs up the idea :) though I would never get it done myself! Anyone got any cool ideas already on what to put in the animation - I'd love to hear what you think?

The second video is along the same sort of techy lines:

I think it's got some scope in it and I'd love to see what the first ad is that uses that kind of technology. I'm sure someone somewhere will come up with an ingenious plan for that!

These next two videos are something I couldn't resist posting as I laughed quite a lot at both of them:

Excellent. I think they're both great simply for the laughs; how they convinced Van Damme to do that I have no idea but it's brilliant anyway :D one of my favourite ads at the moment purely for s**ts and giggles ^_^

The final video I'm going to post is quite a mean one but something else I found quite funny:

Haha! I'd kill him for that but I think I'd still see the funny side and it is pretty original :) do you think he 'fell for her' big time? haha ... lame I know.

Well, that's me for now. Sadly I have to leave as I'm off to the pub for a big catch up with friends after all our hard work this past month. Have a good night everyone, I'll post again as soon as I can!

Cya! x
